In a world facing crisis after crisis, how do we move humanity forward, together?

This is the question the United Nations — and young people around the world — are working every day to answer.

Thirty years ago the UN Development Programme (UNDP) launched the Human Development Index (HDI) as an innovative tool to help us understand the basic things all human beings need to live healthy, meaningful lives.

The TogetHDR forum brings young people together with UN experts to learn about and discuss human development and the Human Development Report 2023/2024. Its message is clear: we are at a critical point where people are disagreeing and disengaging, yet humanity must cooperate to resolve urgent challenges to our societies and our planet.

At the heart of this collective action are young people around the world who know we can do better — and are doing it through local or global initiatives and movements. Our UN colleagues want to hear your story. Your insights can inform better efforts worldwide — and you’ll learn how to cultivate your own career for global impact.

Join us in reimagining the future of human development.
